You may light a candle near the Sacred Heart statue in our Shrine room. The large statue, carved in linden wood, is an original from the Benedictine Monastery in Beuron, Germany. It is the work of Father Wilfrid, O.S.B., who lost both hands in a hand-grenade mishap during World War II. Nevertheless, using an artificial left hand, and with a mallet strapped to his right arm, he was able to carve this remarkable statue in 1955 at the age of seventy-five.
